Sometimes I participate in remix contests at Acid Planet.com. Individual sounds from popular artists are provided for one of their particular tracks, and you are put to the test to remix those sounds into a new masterpiece against other competitors. While my songs created there are still technically “remixes,” they tend not to resemble the original track at all, and carry their own weight as a new original track. This is my style and intention when participating in a remix contest. I like to create something new and fresh that the original artist wouldn’t expect could be done with the same sounds. I like to experiment and often do not even listen to the original track so that I do not become influenced by it. Some of my songs there have been voted in the top ten for peoples choice.
