“I love you”
rolls off
ones tongue
to another’s heart
“I love you”
Three words
overly misused
in lies and lust
losing their power.
“I love you too”
emotionless
Instinctive response
to the abused
“I love you”
Without true feelings
“I love you”
are
meaningless words
carelessly
thrown about.
Respect
these words
“I love you”
“I love you too”
Speak only
when true.

I’m willing to roll with this.. but whan is it true??
…when it’s not false.
Excellent reminder, Travis. It’s awfully easy to fall into the habit of saying the words and not feeling the feelings behind them (even if, in reality, you DO love the person). We just get into the habit of saying it, rather than saying it with mindfulness. And you know, if you’ve been in the habit of just saying the words, when you go and say it with mindfulness of the love behind the words, it’s an amazing feeling.
Good advice Travis. Nice poem.
In my own life, for a while I had to practice telling others that I loved them before I learned to mean it. Growing up, I didn’t hear the word “love” often enough. Finally, I figured it out. How? Through others continuing to love me when I didn’t find anything love about myself. Eventually it sunk in.
Blessings to you.
enjoy the vacation and when u return i expect some solid stuff…
Thinking more about this, I would be of the Clint Eastwood school.. say as little as possible and mean it all!
Cheers
Glenn
