Calligraphied

Clouds brush the sky
in calligraphic spirals of ink
dripping on origami shaped lands,
which upon impact… Splosh!
forming into droplets of rain.

Off the tips of white lotus heads,
dragonflies skip,
rippling waters once motionless surface,
stirring brush painted koi
resting below.

Lily pads touch,
then float apart again.
Bamboo chimes collide,
lift, and spin on tsunami winds
breath, of an ancient ocean tide.

Outside haiku, brew
on boiling kettles of green tea
bubbling over with calligraphic spirals of steam
rising above origami shaped lands
forming a lotus cloud dream

  1. Wonderful imagery. This poem feels colorful to me. (good job inspiring synesthesia!)

  2. Mike, thank you. Sometimes, I make an effort to try to touch each sense.

  4. Thank you Don! Glad you like it.

  5. This feels very peaceful. And I can almost taste the green tea and see the koi.

  6. Kamsin, I intended on writing a poem based around a lotus, but I got a little carried away with this and it ended up being a much grander scene.

  7. I really like the lines..

    Outside haiku, brew
on boiling kettles of green tea
    and
    Clouds brush the sky
    in calligraphic spirals of ink

  8. “Clouds brush the sky
    in calligraphic spirals of ink
    dripping on origami shaped lands,….”

Prepares the mind that clouds *can* write on “paper” lands that get drenched with their “ink” that is the rain.

    Brilliant!

  9. Cecilia, you perceived it as I intended it. Thank you for your thoughtful insight.
