Shamrock – Four Leaf Clover

Shamrock - Four Leaf Clover Lucky Design

Given that I do have some Irish blood and it is getting around St. Patrick’s day, I thought I would design an inkblot that reflects the Legend of the Four Leaf Clover. According to legend, each leaf represents something. The first leaf is for hope, the second leaf is for faith, the third leaf is for love, and the fourth leaf is for none other then, luck. I’m not superstitious so I don’t actually believe four leaf clovers grants one any kind of magical lucky ability, but at least the concept gave me an excuse to design something around it.

Update: A guest of the website got the Shamrock – Four Leaf Clover design tattooed on her left hip and has agreed to allow it to be displayed here. It is about 3-inches tall, and she said the tattoo artist made it a bit darker so it would last longer. It looks great!

    Legend?
    .
Maybe, but there is a truth about clover…
    .
St. Patrick used the clover to explain the Christian Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. How the three are truly one. And, maybe that forth leaf is not luck, but… if you believe… that forth leaf is YOU!

My mom and I have always had this gift for finding four leaf clovers. its weird, we just find them. anywhere. well, to me its always represented what what my mom means to me and what she taught me about hard work and patience and attention to detail and just life, especially related to the legend. anyways, we’ve been talking about getting matching tattoos of four leaf clovers for a long time now, and we’ve been searching for the perfect graphic of one, and ive been trying to design one but i just cant find a way to incorporate all i want to into it. this graphic is PERFECT i love it! i think its really simple and perfect, kind of whimsical. its not the cliche four leaf clover, which is what im looking for. i just want to find a way to incorporate the words hope, faith, love, and luck into it without ruining the graphic, and i think we may get a tattoo of it! also, we were trying to find a way to have the stem say “serenity”. anyways, im glad i stumbled across this, its very nice. mind if we use your image?

Has anyone actually had a tattoo done of this? I’d like to see a picture because I’ve been returning to this image for another clover tattoo… but i wasn’t sure how it’d work out. I guess its all about finding the perfect artist to replicate. So if anyone did go through with it, let us know!

Hi Travis! I absolutely love your 4 leaf clover design!!! Really nice! That would be really cool printed on a shirt, I’d definitely buy it!! I LOVE me some clovers! :) I have 2 4 leaf clover tattoos. My first tattoo was a 4leaf clover with my Gemini sign in the middle of it(that was 10 plus years ago…so DEFINITELY needs to be redone!), and my other one is on my right wrist! That is my fav one!! I have another tattoo on my lower back….it is a different design of a heart with my sons name in the middle….cool designs around it, with lil clovers on the ends. Anyways…just wanted to tell you that your design is really neat. GOOD JOB! :)

I like nature combined with abstract art. It reminds me of this game I played yesterday called Zen of Clover.

  27. Casey says:

I went to the tattoo parlor to make an appointment with the tattooist to have it done on my birthday but he told me that my wrist is too small for the details like brush strokes and words. so I will most prolly put it on the back on my neck. I couldnt give up the idea of not having a tattoo cos’ your work is simply perfect.
