In the beginning, there was skepticism

My biggest turning point of how I understand the world and the people in it was at an early age when I pondered that around the world there are different cultures, values, religions, etc… and all of the people in their respective environments believe in their ways just as feverishly as those in other environments. At that point, it was obvious to me that we are conditioned by our surroundings, by our environments. This also led me to be a determinist. Same with religion, in each religion, the members equally believe in their god just as much as the other religion, and none of them are able to show that their view is the absolute right and real one. This made it obvious to me that men made religion and god to serve men’s desires.

First of all in your boasting:

When I applied my mind to know wisdom and to observe man’s labor on earth -his eyes not seeing sleep day or night - then I saw all that God had done. No one can comprehend what goes on under the sun. Despite all his efforts to search it out man cannot discover its meaning. Even if a wise man claims he knows he cannot really comprehend it.

    Ecclesiates 8:16 - 17

The LORD says: Let not the wise boast of his wisdom, or the strong boast of his strenghth, or the rich of his riches.
But, let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows Me, that I Am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice, and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight, declares the Lord.

    Jeremiah 9:23 - 24

    Second of all:

You are right in a sense, that people create gods to fill there need. But that is because they have forgotten there true God. At the tower of Babel when God sent everyone out with people of there own language to fill every corner of the earth the people contiued to disobey their God. So they forgot about Him and created new gods to fill their spiritual thirst, but just ended up harming themselves, and condeming themselves to hell.
And that ends up being the same with atheist’s, most of them come from a “christian” background, but they where never fed by the Holy Spirit, they went to church they went to youth groups, but it was all rules and regulations to them, so they left. Knowing there is a God, but thinking what they experienced was God. Or they really did expirenced Him and walked away becuase they did not want to have to be accountable to someone for there sins.
