Shisa – Inkblot
Friday, December 1st, 2006
This piece is titled “Shisa” from my Inkblot design series. Shisa or Shiisaa (Okinawan: siisaa) is a traditional Ryukyuan decoration, often found in pairs, resembling a cross between a lion and a dog. Many people put a pair of Shisa on their rooftops or flanking the gates to their houses. Shisa are wards, believed to protect from various evils. When found in pairs, the shisa on the right traditionally has an open mouth, and the one on the left, a closed mouth.

Wow! I love the new site and I totally dig this inkblot. Beautiful!!! Inspiring me to get creating…
Hi Kyra! I’m glad you like the new site and my Shisa inkblot. This is the first time I have ever revealed any of my inkblot designs and music to the public. I am working on a e-store to sell my hi-resolution art prints and photography.
Whoa, new design! Hope this means you’ll be blogging more soon :)
Hi Julie, yes, I will be blogging more again. With some fresh new content.
Beautiful.
Hi Tarun, Thank you.
