I love the tension that develops as you enjamb not only the line after “face,” but also across stanzas! I feel the flutter of excitement that ripples inside when you catch such a glimpse.

  2. Ron says:

I see you’re getting the hang of this thing. : )

And fantasy still has a place in the scheme of things. I have actually had experiences of this type. The briefest of romances. Oops. I confessed. And I ‘m a married man!

    Hi Mike,

I’m glad this poem was effective enough that you were able to feel the flutter of excitement I felt! I really appreciate your comment, as it helps me to further develop.

Just today, on the way home from work, I seen such a pretty face in the drivers side mirror of the car in front of me, I felt warm and “in love”. Which in turn was my inspiration to share these feelings through a poem.

    Hi Ron,

Some poems I just feel are better expressed and complimented through this visual form.

I would imagine many of us have had these passing experiences and romances… perhaps even sometime with nature, such as a butterfly, of a used cigarette butt lying on the side of a curb next to a gutter… I could see the beauty in that…and perhaps that may be considered a romance of sorts.

    travis, this is gorgeous!

  5. Travis says:

    Thank you Katy!
It’s only as gorgeous as the one reading it. :)

  6. bert says:

    Why Travis, you ladykiller :D

No, seriously, the poem is nice, I like the whirling style. Adds an extra dynamic force to the whole thing

  7. Travis says:

    Bert-san!
I just meant that ones views are often a reflection of self. If one sees that everything is ugly…thier mind is ugly not the things… If one sees that everything is beautiful, thier mind is beautiful.

  8. Mike says:

Travis: Good point re: the effect of one’s mind on one’s perceptions!

  9. Scheherazade says:

You’ve perfectly expressed the passing fancy.

  10. katy says:

haha, travis, a little friendly flirting is always welcome.

though, i do prefer your rational; the world is what we make of it. destiny, fate, all that predeterminism, that flies too, if that’s what someone is into, but regardless, whether you take it in and appriciate it or go on loathing one’s path and passing up the opportunity to change it makes a world of difference.

  11. Travis says:

    Hi Katy!

Doesn’t everything make a world of difference :D

Are we really in control, or are we just reactions to the actions before us?
