You are now reading these words,
You are aware of this very moment.
Now experience each moment after this one with the same awareness
Now look at everything’s unique yet equal beauty.
Take notice to the things that you may have been accustomed to before,
the grass, the leaves blowing on the tree just 5 feet away from you.
feel the winds breath on your face
see the leaves trembling,

Go outside,
Stop, Relax.
look, and breathe
with the sun,
the clouds,
the moon,
the stars,
breathe, aware of your breath
feel the soil below your feet
You are the wind
You are the moment

Thanks for dropping by our little bible study. How un-zen like of you!

I guess the silver-greay letters on black background maps to your blog title — zen-moon. Symbolism. Not too good for the readability — poor contrast. I should probably get me some glasses.

Hi kwakersaur, thank you for stopping by. I guess your silver-grey sarcasm and critism maps to what you’ve learned in your bible study. Symbolism. My stopping by is un-zen like? Then tell me, what is zen like? I’m glad you were able to read “Zen-moon” despite its poor readability and contrast. Good luck finding your glasses. I wish you well on your path.

I just posted this little quote below and then came here. Love these small coincidences, or are they? (Not as pretty as your poem but similar in concept).

“We live in a world of theophanies. Holiness comes wrapped in the ordinary. There are burning bushes all around you. Every tree is full of angels. Hidden beauty is waiting in every crumb. Life wants to lead you from crumbs to angels, but this can happen only if you are willing to unwrap the ordinary by staying with it long enough to harvest its treasure.”

Wow! yes, it is similar, and just as pretty. Thanks for sharing this Ron. Perhaps there are no coincidences, which would mean there is some connection, and it is this connection which we must become aware of. Like we are parts of the line that form the outline of a circle. We are the parts, and the circle.

As a 40-something — finding glasses is about getting past the pride — and seeing an optometrist. And yes — grey text on black background combined with small font — is an accessibility issue in addition to a goad to me to get over my pride and get on with life.

As for my “un-zen-like” comment — I rather like Basho as zen poet’s go — present the image without allegory or symbolism. And what I feel marks our little bible study is analytic (not necessarily sarcasm). Yes analysis to a fault. But analysis nonetheless.

Kwakersaur (aka david), I’m sorry the font size and color is hard on your eyes. I really should add an option to increase the text size on the site to accomodate everyone. Ah, So you like haiku. Basho writes haiku. I do write haiku as well, and without any metaphors or similes…as that is part of haiku form. But not all my poems are haiku. Thanks for stopping by again!

I agree with Kwakersaur about the font size thing as I also have an optometrist appointment next monday and I’m a sixty something.
A simpler solution would be for him to use Firefox or if he already uses it, try the ctrl and + key combo to increase the font size. That won’t help the color issue. I like the Wordpress theme I use ’cause it allows the user to change colors on the fly. (When it works) but that won’t help our friend.
Or maybe, like me, he just needs bifocals! : )

Oh, Thanks for the suggestion Ron, now that is two people that have mentioned the font size… I am looking into a solution while keeping the clean design.
